    Credential pick up, athlete weigh-ins and spectator tickets are Friday night, Feb. 2, 2024, 6-8 p.m., at the Antlers Hotel, 4 S. Cascade Ave., Colorado Springs.

    Public draws and the Coaches briefing will follow at 8 p.m., also at the host hotel, The Antlers.

    Competition begins on Saturday, Feb. 3, 2024 at the Olympic & Paralympic Training Center 590 N. Union Blvd, Colorado Springs.

    7:30 a.m. EK 600 - Male Kata

    7:30 a.m. EK 601 - Female Kata

    10:00 a.m. - All TEAM Kata

    10:30 a.m. - ES 600 - Male Kumite -60k

    10:30 a.m. - ES 605 - Female Kumite - 50k

    2:30 p.m. - ES 601 - Male Kumite - 67k

    2:30 p.m. - ES 606 - Female Kumite -55k

    6:00 p.m. - ES602 - Male Kumite -75k

    The categories will be run to completion, so you are free to depart as you choose after your category has ended entirely. While Kata will be run with two tatami, we may often run only one tatami throughout much of the Kumite competition to ensure the highest level of officials are utilized. A reminder that the format will run as Pool Play to single elimination. You can find the complete Selection Procedures HERE.

    Sunday, Feb. 4, the competition schedule is as follows:

    7:30 a.m. - ES 603 - Male Kumite -84k

    10:30 a.m. - ES 608 - Female Kumite - 68k

    10:30 a.m. - ES 604 - Male Kumite +84k

    2:00 p.m. - ES 609 - Female Kumite +68k

    For those people in the final few categories on Sunday, specifically ES 608, ES 604 and ES 609, this would mean you may need to arrange to stay one extra night in Colorado Springs, if you are not local. Although we do not have rooms available to us at the OPTC, the local hotel, the Antlers, does have space that night. We will help you organize transportation from the OPTC to the hotel, as needed.

    NOTE: Although there is no charge to the athletes for participation, all persons must register in order to participate. There is a limit of 50 beds available at the OPTC, first come, first served. Registration for this event will close 11:59pm CT Monday January 29th.

    Senior Team Kata Category Process for 2024


    Open call for 2024 Team Kata Teams! This is a special year with the 2024 Team World Championships in Pamplona, Spain in November. Because of this event, we are making a special call for any 16+ Team Kata Teams interested in trying out for the Team World Championships and Pan American Championships, to register for the US Team Trials. The selected Team will need to compete and place in the top 3 at the 2024 Pan American Championships in Punta del Este, Uruguay to be qualified for the Team World Championships.

    The following process will be used to determine the qualified Team:

    For 2024, the WKF Team World Championships will utilize the 2024 PKF Championships for qualification. The PKF Championships take place in May before our Nationals, thus the 2024 process will be a 1-time process. The Kata Team will be selected using the following process:

    a. Kata teams will register for the Team Trials, as they do for Nationals.

    b. Teams will compete as they would during Nationals and the Gold Medal team will be the US Kata Team for 2024 international competitions.

    i. Teams will compete in the Senior Team Trials as they would during Nationals.

    ii. Any ties will be resolved using the most current WKF tie-breaking rules.

    c. Bunkai will be performed in the last round with the number of rounds determined by the number of teams competing.

    i. If there are 5 or more teams, three rounds will be held. The first round advances the top 4 teams. The second round advances the top 2 teams. The third and final round determines the first and second places.

    ii. If there are 3-4 teams, two rounds will be held. The first round advances the top 2 teams. The second and final round determines the first and second places.

    iii. If there are 2 teams, one round will be held to determine the first and second places.
