Brian Irr Qualifies for Tokyo Olympic Games Team

Brian Irr secures his spot as the third member of the USA Karate Olympic team and will be the USA representative competing in Tokyo in the +75 male kumite category.

 

The New York native started practicing karate at the age of 8, and moved to Texas to train and follow his Olympic dreams. 

 

Irr often found the podium in 2018, 2019 and 2020, bringing home medals from several international tournaments: Gold, Senior Pan American Championships 2018; Bronze, Senior Pan American Championships 2019; Bronze, K1 Series A Montreal 2019; and Silver, K1 Premier League Salzburg 2020. 

 

Qualifying as the continental representation from the Pan-American Karate Federation’s continental games, Irr will be making his Olympic debut this August to compete on the world’s biggest stage. 

 

Karate competition will take place at the Nippon Budokan, the iconic Japanese martial arts venue, on August 5-7, 2021. Irr is set to compete on the third day of competition.
