I started karate when I was 5 years old. ...Last year, I made the Junior US Team for 18-20 Male Kumite -60kg as the 4th seed. This year, I made the Junior US Team once again for 18-20 Male Kumite -60kg, this time as the 2nd seed....My mom is my hero in real life because she works hard to keep our family worry-free. She will continue to be my role model for years to come. Also, she's my best friend!...Being able to fight in the finals at this year's nationals and earning one of the top two spots in the Jr. Team pool has been my greatest win thus far. All of the blood and sweat I poured into this commitment has brought me much joy and feelings of fulfillment over the last couple of years. So to see all of my hard work pay off really sets the foundation for my successes in the future. Also, to have been competing nationally for less than a year and a half makes this achievement that much greater to me....I enjoy the competition as it is. To be able to set goals and meet expectations while doing what I love is what drives me to aim higher and higher. Whether I win or lose, I will still improve upon myself....My mom inspires me to be better each and every day. This drive to be better carries over into all aspects of my life, not just Karate.
